New Superintendent, Same Great School DistrictGuiding one of the top 50 school districts in Texas into the future is Dr. Karen Engle, newly named Superintendent of Schools for the Clear Creek Independent School District. Engle has an extensive history with the school district she will lead, having attended Clear Lake City Elementary and Webster Intermediate and graduated from Clear Lake High School. Her children also graduated from CCISD schools. One of her grandchildren is currently a student at a district school. Last year, she came out of retirement to take over as acting superintendent. Her exemplary work made her the unanimous choice as the permanent replacement. Over the years, Engle as served as elementary principal, high school principal and assistant superintendent of secondary education for CCISD. She has a bachelor’s degree in secondary education from Baylor University, a master’s degree in teaching from the University of Houston-Clear Lake and a Doctor of Education from Bethel University. Clear Creek ISD serves 42,000 students across 45 campuses. Niche consistently awards the district an “A” rating based on the quality of its academics, teachers, diversity, college prep programs, clubs and activities and administration. It ranks No. 42 on the 2023 list of top school districts in Texas. Teachers average 11 years of experience. The district routinely partners with NASA on some of its curriculum, including in the fields of biotechnology and robotics. Students can participate in numerous extracurricular activities. Advanced Placement, honors and dual credit classes are available. The district boasts a 97 percent graduation rate. Edgewater is fortunate to be zoned to this amazing district. Our young scholars attend McWhirter Elementary, Clear Creek Intermediate and Clear Creek High School. We would like to welcome Dr. Engle and look forward to seeing our children learn, grow and excel. |
